Alabama auction finds $500,000 for car of former police chief

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

— Alabama auction finds a $500 for car used in the 1989 murder of the former chief of the Birmingham Police Department, according to a report.

The $500 will go to the family of former Chief Frank M. Boulton, the Birmingham News reported.

A family member said he paid $500 to a woman at the car auction on Monday.

Boulton was shot and killed on March 17, 1989, by former Chief of Police William R. McDaniel and was found in a basement, according the newspaper.

His body was found a few weeks later with bullet wounds to his head, chest and abdomen.
